Lunch in the sun at Ivory Restaurant

Sunday, August 13, 2017

Looking for somewhere fabulous to try in Belfast. We checked out the Ivory restaurant in Victoria Square and enjoyed wining and dining in the sunshine.

I arranged to have lunch in Ivory with my friends, Rachel, Julie and Clare.  We had visited the Ivory Champagne bar before but this was a first visit to the restaurant.  I was excited to experience this gem of a venue in Victoria Square, Belfast’s premier shopping centre.

The restaurant enjoys the benefits of a spacious roof terrace with fantastic views of the city centre.  We were lucky that the sun was shining and decided to enjoy a pre-lunch Prosecco on the terrace.  As it stayed fine, we opted to stay there for the duration of our visit and thoroughly enjoyed our sunny dining experience.

We decided to skip starters and head straight for main courses but Maitre d’, James decided that we should try the bread, oil, tapenade and sun dried tomatoes (£4.95) and brought us some to sample.  We were glad he did as the artisan breads and accompaniments were delicious and perfect for soaking up some of that Prosecco.

For our main course, Julie and I both opted for the salt and chilli chicken (£8.50) , lovely and spicy with a nice kick from the chilli.  Rachel chose the 7 oz Irish beef burger with bacon rocket, tomato and cheese £12.95 and Clare had the Harissa chicken, quinoa, avocado and pomegranate salad with mustard dressing (£11.50).  I must admit to having a bit of food envy over that one as it looked divine and very healthy.  A selection of parmesan fries, sweet potato fries and triple cooked chips (£3.95 each)  completed our feast along with some rather lovely Borgo Magredo Pinot Grigio, as recommended by James.

With no room for puddings, James brought us a selection of the restaurant’s delicious cocktails to try- what a joy, even if the rest of the day was a bit of a blur!  I would urge you to give the Ivory a try.  We loved the food we tried and I have to say that the service was second to none.  We were extremely well looked after and truly had a special day out.
